Ancestors

            Upon that

willow tree

I find my

ancestors

carved in,

It was

tranquil

Wind~

interlocking

with strands

of my brown hair,

I whisper

nonsense,

hoping my

hellos

receive replies

from souls

long passed.

Nicely-crafted flowing ideas in your poem. I love willow trees, known for being flexible (nice symbol). I love being reminded of carving on tree bark to capture a moment to remember later. There are times when I've seen very old places and artifacts, and I've wondered the same thing - is the past ever fully erased or is there a lingering essence there that I can connect with? I love the gentle feeling of exploration and self-doubt towards the end of your poem: "I whisper nonsense, hoping my hellos receive replies". Nice piece!
