Freedom

An aspiration to free oneself to a metal cage.

A blackbird felt the euphoria of flying

The surroundings felt like a dream

It seems surreal for no fences were seen

The calming sky and the smiling sun

Welcomed her as she ventured the whole village

With excitement, she made a sound

T'was wonderful to hear

The contentment she felt echoed everywhere

Finally, she made it

She felt the warmth of being at peace

Freely she roamed around

Freely she expressed herself

Freely she chose the path she wants

Freely she appreciated the ethereal beauty of life

Freely she was able to love 

Freely she was loved

This is what she wants- to live freely and peacefully

Suddenly, a thunderstorm strikes

She ran away fearing for her life

With an eagerness to survive, she flew away

She looked back only to see everything vanishing

She closed her eyes and a tear escaped as she opens them again

It was all an illusion

She is still in a cage dreaming of freedom

The freedom she never felt

How she wishes she could turn that dream into reality

For her heart can no longer bear another day

Of living with no freedom
