My "Other" Child

My "Other" Child

A Poem by PasDeChat

You were taken away from me

The binds that held my heart together are gone

Every bite I take is bitter, food but an after thought

Each breath only takes you further away

Each day I weep at the thought of your laugh

A laugh that made my heart sing

The light of your smile but a memory

So bright the afterglow I can still feel it

When you first came to us, there was only pain and distrust

Each and everyday a veil was slowly lifted to show the hidden you

As you slowly emerged, a part of my heart was overwhelmed by your spirit

A kind and benevolent spirit below layers of mistrust and abuse

I was not prepared for the space in my heart to be so large

Hoping beyond hope that your laugh and light will shine bright

Don’t let anyone or anything re-raise that veil

You are a great young man, you deserve so much more

Remember we are here, will be here, and miss you

Everyday without word seams an eternity

I count the days wanting only to know you are okay

Know beyond all things that you are loved

A tear jerker of a write that catches one 's heart and hangs on. Such love and affection caress your words. Beautifully done. PW

This is such a heartfelt write. I could almost hear a soft, caring voice, whispering the warm affection. Wonderful!
