Serious Thinking

Serious Thinking

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Serious Thinking

So! Archemedes said to Aristotle

What's in that brown paper covered bottle?

You know we heroes aren't supposed to drink,

What on earth will the big guy think?

Oh shut up you self-righteous little shite

I have been awake half my life

Trying to recall

What Newton said about the apple's fall.

I don't even know if it matters

All I know is that I'm f*****g shattered.

All this revered hero stuff is s**t

And I've just about had enough of it.

I only want to have a drink

Now go away and let me think!

hehehehhehe :))
Love it! Not breaking down heroes for juvenile empowerment, but to create genuine relatability. We don't stand on the shoulders of giants, but stand by them--elbow-to-elbow--propped up at the bar!

Thanks WM.
In the meantime old Newton is cooking up a barrel of those pesky apples for some cider for hair of the dog which Aristotle will be glad of.
Poor old Archimedes is screwed. lol
Great bit of craic John.

Go away and let me think! ;-)
This is great, paints a vivid picture of two greats as kind of ordinary guys shooting the sh**t. However, even though it's a new year, those damned errant apostrophes still plague me. hero's should be heroes, or am I reading that incorrectly?

Such fun to write, thank you kimmer!
Like the contrast between the subject and the style, with the f word and s word.
Maybe heroes would be better if the plural is meant.
