Never Knew Me

Never Knew Me

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Never Knew Me

You are decite,

so disengenuous.

You flaunt perfection

like a fake tan.

You carry self belief

like a death shroud

thick and musty

around my neck.

A tyre to soak in petrol

and set alight

and torch my soul

until scorched to ash.

Nothing is left of me but particles

for the wind to disperse

in easy puffs.

No substance,

no meaning,

no identity of my own.

You never saw me,

you certainly never knew me.

Hi Spiritwind, I am blown away by the strength of your review. I write to express emotion and if my experience touches others in any sense it is worth every single line and letter I write. Thank you so much and although some of my writing is wanting I hope you find others you enjoy.

This one pushed my emotion buttons! Good job!
Fantastic lines here: "A tyre to soak in petrol
and set alight
and torch my soul
until scorched to ash."
Visual and heart-pounding!
If I copied every line that I found excellent than I would be copying the whole poem ! But I have to say that the last 2 lines are superb lines with which to end your work.
I plan to make you a frequent stop so I can have the joy of reading your work.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
