Fate Forecast

Fate Forecast

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Fate Forecast

Where has the summer gone?

With so much promise

spring came and bathed us warm,

then left us to return to chill.

Balmy days that failed to pass,

now mourned

as we look in hope to the skies

each and every passing day.

We will each cloud to part

and open blue and pure

the heaven above the leaden grey.

But were we not warned?

A fate forecast,

four times fortold,

not to put such precious faith

in finding earthly warmth.

Thank you for such a lovely review. The poem is a metaphor for failed relationships, hence the four times foretold.

I like the way you handled this: "A fate forecast,
four times fortold"
You are crisp and to the point, John McFadyen. You do not let the poem flounder in piles of flowery words.
I've seen many a failed summer lately too, perhaps the long hot summers are reserved for the very young.
I enjoyed reading it. Thank you.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
