22 Months

22 Months

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Two guesses which movie inspired this as an expression of pain?

"

22 Months

For 22 months

the rock of our relationship

had me pinned fast.

I came with vigour and enthusiasm

into your canyon.

A place of such mystery,

a place of beauty;

a place of artistry promised.

But as I explored in wonder

I became wedged tight

as the weight of your debt

and unrealistic demands

and expectations fell on me.

For months I raged against

this bolder until my whole body

was battered and bruised.

But still I tried to find cause.

In my delerious dreams I saw hope

but each time I awoke

my fate seemed as certain as death.

And so I severed the limb

that I dearly cherrished,

and desired,

and was freed to live again.

Thanks Afra!
This reminded me strongly of that young man who loved to hike the red-gold canyons of the southwest. He slipped and fell and a boulder pinned him down for several days until one day he decided that if he were to live he must cut off his arm. Nice work!

I love the analogy! When we are in bad relationships we are faced with the choice of suffering in the relationship or of losing a piece of us to be free. Many of us stay living in unhappiness because we are afraid of the pain of severing the limb. Brilliant!

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
