Butterfly Sting

Butterfly Sting

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Butterfly Sting

Pain!

So much agony

and wrenching of the heart.

So much acrimony

in endings.

Such a waste of creation,

of building love and expectation;

naïve or not.

Such a rapid collapse

of inflated fanciful fantasies

comes brick hard;

leaves a cold and empty shock,

an angry disbelief.

After all,

none of us ever expects

a butterfly sting.

absolutely, thus the reason we must be very careful who and what we trust. Every dog we meet does not bite but we must remember that they still have teeth. That which is beautiful on the outside is not necessarily the same on the inside. We must be careful for great evil sometimes come in beautiful packages. Well done John

Thank you Neva
Oh wow...this blew me away. I read the title, and thought to myself: what's with the oxymoron? Then I read it...so achingly beautiful! Fantastic word choice. This is going into my Favorites...

Adieu!

Thanks Amar I will think on it.
I like the unexpectedness of this poem, the title draws me in, the words paint a picture of pain and anger. Very expressive write yet leaves so much to think about behind it.

Hello Heather, Kind as always. Many thanks. Hope you are well!

This is what your poem put me in mind of.

Well done. Thanks for sharing.

No truer word is said. Angels can cause catastophic chaos and tear deep into one's soul. Many thanks.. read more
this is an excellent write. It does put one in mind of the shock we experience when the unexpected happens or when we are hurt or wronged by someone we did not expect it from.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
