Ecstacy to Rage

Ecstacy to Rage

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Why do I go from romance to despair in swift and silky flows Please dear poets do get in touch if anybody knows?

"

Ecstasy to Rage

These are simple emotions,

amorous bedfellows of my pen

that spill from the deep

dark crevices

carved into my tortured,

yet romantically optimistic,

heart and soul.

I vacillate between them

choosing as I would a tie

to match my mood.

From deep Despair to Loving Tryst

mere meanderings of my mind.

A lyrical vent

to my construct of the world

and vivid voice

to my joy and to my pain.

Being sensitive holds lots of peril for us western males, one of them being the vacillation you speak of brother of the heart. I, unfortunately, have no answer other than to put up walls, which I wouldn't know how to do even if I wanted to.

"Why do I go from romance to despair in swift and silky flows Please dear poets do get in touch if anybody knows?" I am looking for an answer to this question, myself. Angi~

I guess it has to do with the fragility of the artist Angi. We are a fickle bunch!
I was wondering that myself ;-) Nice bit of introspection, John. Well penned.

You will have had your fill of my writing having indulged me so but I am so very grateful Sheema.
Looking through the many lovely poems you have written in the past two weeks, I did wonder about your mood swings! I guess it is our stongest emotions that both shape us and linger unwanted.

For writers, the pen and paper is their therapy. Nice piece!

True AHP, true!
Maybe the answer is simpler than it seems. If your emotions were static, you would be something other than a poet. The tides go through four changes in a 24 hour period, two highs and two lows. We are controlled by the moon as the tides are, so I believe we too go through the same changes in our "tides".

Continue being the emotional, romantic optomist that you are...it makes your writing what it is, which is very good.
