Welcome Spring

Welcome Spring

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Welcome Spring

As morning breaks across the valley

a watermark moon is stamped

pale upon the sheet of crisp blue sky

hanging over the waking earth.

Swaying in a gentle cosmic breeze

it heralds a bright spring day

to elevate our frosted hearts

as we skip into the mundane

with rejuvenated vigour.

The prospect of exposure

to the warming of the sun

a fine fillip to our woes

and pale skins.

The discard of clothes

tempts our primitive desires

with an air filled

with amorous intention

as we melt into the demise

of the harshest winter nights.

My pleasure...
Like this very much, the opening line is especially good, rich in association, written with
literary class - a great job.

That is a very kind review to honour me with Thomas. Thank you!
Beautifully written with some gorgeous imagery. I don't know what to call this weather we are having in Oklahoma.. one day it is cold, then warm, then hot, and then cold again... doesn't make my gardening days very easy. Glad you are getting some lovely Spring days, John.

Why thank you Jack. The sun has always been a love of mine.
i like the juxtaposition of abandoning clothes, the possibility of a sexual encounter but set against the coming winter.

really cool how you did that.

Yes could not wait to see it go. This winter has been harsh. Well for us fragile Brits lol!
I envision a scene from Fantasia. Certainly a fillip for me, sitting here while a snow storm swirls outside. (I learned a new word also, which rarely happens these days.) Wonderful write, an easy flow to it; straight forward and honest.

Thank you Mark. Not a fan of snow as I am a sun seeker.
I think I'm finally feeling Spring weather, for sure I felt your lovely poetry. Knew you'd get to taking your clothes off one way or another....very sweet John. ;-)

We don't have that season in the Philippines but this is nicely written. Great job with the poem, I felt spring along the way in my waking dreams~

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
