Beggar for Love

Beggar for Love

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Beggar for Love

The ticking of the clock

masks the conversation

relived in my head,

of the promises you made

but didn’t keep.

The DVD is simply background noise as

I float in this bloated,

black ocean of your silence

where deceit has cast me.

Yesterday I had plans,

I had dreams; believed in us.

Today, everything is smashed

like driftwood upon rocks

in a raging Norwegian sea.

In those waves I now drown,

a simple beggar

who was hungry for love

and driven to swim,

despite the undertow,

to catch the tide of hope.

This is a really powerful write John, it's really sad, and emotional. Sometimes writing what you're feeling helps a lot, it's what we need to do sometimes. A really powerful write, you're still great as ever, just keep your head up and be strong!

Sorry hon, it really sucks.
This is powerful and reminds me of death, which in a way, it is.

This too shall pass and we will learn to swim again though the waters may not be so beautiful, so inviting again. Just a dull, grey, tepid expanse keeoing one afloat, but with stability and consistency.

Loved the write. You were great as ever.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
