You Chose!

You Chose!

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

You chose!

The frozen state of denial has ended

and I cannot stop

the waterfall of tears

at our demise.

I now see the predator

 you hid behind the façade,

I realise your motivation.

The pain that wracks my soul

and leaves my breathing

hampered by such deep and sorry sobs

is so acute.

I feel the salt of these sad days

sting the pale flesh of my cheeks

to leave burning, angry tales.

A sad circumstance

over which I have no control.

You decided this fate for us,

elected to re-engage with

your abuser

and leave my soul to rot.

The pain and loss in this poem is stark and real. Frustration, anger, and loneliness, splayed out on the page so eloquently. Very sharp piece.

Oh such a dramatic ending, a wholesale resignation is evident here, I really feel his misfortune, good good work !

Tough read my friend, It's not always easy to make the 'right' decisions...you pen'd the feeling of angst so well.

YOu have a very dramatic way of engaging passionate words to describe feelings.
A true gift from God. Thanks for using it to share with us.

I can relate to this on a very personal level. Strong emotions emanating from intense pain and sadness. Hope all is well John. Excellent work as always.

Emotions that I'd sooner I never had to share. Thanks Leslie.
Just cry and grieve and get over it. There are some things we just can't change and we cannot cling to those who wish to go.

Beautifully written John.

Yep. We don't always chose the truest of love. But I assure you, you will not rot.
