Crucified

Crucified

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen

Crucified.

You stumble beneath the weight

of the oaken cross

that you yourself fashioned

from your dense forest of fear.

And she who is not free from fear

is not complete in love.

You captured my soul with sweet sermons;

me your chosen disciple,

plucked to serve the dignity

of the hope you offered.

But it is I who ended

nailed through my heart

to those thick wooden planks,

bleeding drop by bloody drop

upon the grey barren earth

of all the promises you made,

of the salvation you foretold,

but that you failed

to honour.

Hi John!
I was just passing through and you are as awesome as ever!
Betrayal and grief flow through every word here and I could feel the rough, rugged, lonely Cross of pain rest sharp on my shoulders. Very beautifully portrayed. Thank you so much.

I hope to write again soon John. Keep having a great Christmas Season. Many Thanks! :)
Despite the promises it was a barren, thankless love affair !

A soulfully penned poem with pathos aplenty !

What a beautiful poem, full of loss and anger, grief and pain. It is intense to read this.

Many Thanks KLG
There are some great lines in this heavy poem, I found this quite serious in its parallels to Christ and felt your pain.

Many thanks Mark; and to be knighted by you is indeed an honour!
So often the wounded heart has no choice but to bleed...and question why. Just as often the answers never come. Very cool my friend. Loved your take on this pain.

I agree Jack and many thanks.
People who are afraid to love often find every reason in the world why they are not in a relationship...and none of those reasons include shouldering the blame themselves. A well written lament, John. The metaphor is super. Lydi**
