HMRC

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

A rant about the UK tax authorities, Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs (HMRC)

"

HMRC

Why do you regard yourself

above the common 'man'?

Why do I endure being

on hold for an average

thirty minutes

each time I call?

Why when I miscalculate my tax,

or am late in filing,

am I penalised

yet you cocked up my tax

last year

and still I am penalised?

Call yourself a public service?

You are the governments

private mafia,

unaccountable to Parliament,

unaccountable to the public

as you terrorise

ordinary law abiding

citizens with threatening letters

and incompetence!
