Foundations

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Carpe Diem is such a shallow concept!

"

Foundations

Pluck not the day,

for it is but a moment

passing.

Indeed many days

present themselves

as years; and years

as decades.

Until all have passed,

withering upon

untended forgotten vines.

Indeed build your castle

of the finest, most robust

stone; build it with vision.

See it your fortress,

your long term haven,

where steadfast

you will rule

your life

with the wisest dignity

and love.

Yes, John, if our seizing is carried out with nonchalance, and we forget to build those strong foundations of love and dignity, and forget to tend to the vines of our memories (the ones upon which hang that which we have planted in life) then the days that remain surely will feel like years and decades, bringing us little joy. It really does come down to how we seize each moment... well-said!

Yes, yes and yes! I cannot agree more with you on this. All too often people rush to erect tall buildings of themselves, being happy with easy and not working hard for what they need to live a happy life.

strong foundations help those homes last forever, or at least seem to...and putting a little dignity and love in the mortar makes it even stronger.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
