![]() Reflections on a LifeA Poem by John Alexander McFadyenReflections on a Life There I lie in the distant hypnagogic visions of my mind. Oh so many breaths taken and exhumed. Oh so many bridges crossed, so many falls into troubled, brackish, waters. I was once naked with peach like skin but it no longer holds firm. Once innocent and hopeful. Once full of joie de vivre. The mirror now reflects a void, a gap in excited youthful expectation that yawns in Cheyne-Stokes gasps of defeated exasperation, and the putrid stench of surrender.
