Winter of Discontent

Winter of Discontent

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

The lucky ones find safe harbour and moor up for life.

"

Love slips silently

from my arms,

as it has

many times.

It falls away like

autumn leaves,

and leaves me standing

bowed and exposed

and naked

and cold.

There, in that

unforgiving empty

tomb,

I hang my head

and wonder

what is the secret

of longevity

in love's latitudes?

On what wind

will dedicated love

prevail?

Sad free verse poem John, expressed well. The answer my friend is blowing in the wind. Who knows, but a bucket load of tolerance comes to mind to survive decades of marriage in the current climate. Maybe a sprinkling of luck thrown in for added measure and a dash of resilience and topped with a sense of humour.

About
Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
