![]() Under a Corrupt SkyA Poem by John Alexander McFadyen![]() The world is ablaze, rocked by hurricanes, storms and floods, nature is being eroded and man is either subjugating, killing or stealing from man.![]() I used to
look to the heavens in youthful wonder, to see
spring and summer and autumn. To watch the
Skylark and Jay
winging their way to and fro as nature
sent the sun to warm the
earth and the
rains to quench
its thirst. There used
to be a God, a
responsible adult, up there somewhere who would
tend his sheep and keep
them on the just and
decent path to fulfilment. Now it seems the sky is
distorted, bent in origami
folds of blackened
paper sins. Science has
denied me heaven, although I
cannot pretend to be disappointed. For me, God now wears
the tabard of a traitor
to his people, the jaune
gilet of surrender as unchecked
greed and corruption rain unjust
pain and sorrow on the innocent,
and storms and fires
and viruses cause untold
misery to the flock
he once tended. 16/10/20 © 2020 John Alexander McFadyenAuthor's Note
