The Silence and the Screams

The Silence and the Screams

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

Why is it the poor get such a raw deal?

"

Business men,

entrepreneurs,

investors,

bankers,

all crying foul,

all shouting,

screaming

at the moon,

as  children starve

without a word,

and dignity is stripped from

the unemployed

and the dispossessed.

Who will mourn

their loss,

who will miss them

as the corpses

mount

in cold mortuaries

with no space

left.
