Developing Deception

Developing Deception

A Poem by John Alexander McFadyen
"

No idea where that came from!

"

Deceit takes practice,

years of fine tuning the skills

to give one the edge!

Deception, in its inception, uses clever yet wicked tools to deceive the individuals and masses. Whether in relationship, religion, politics, ads, wars and business, they all want to gain an evil advantage over others. One can also deceive the self.

Indeed Sami but perhaps the only legitimate use is in magic? Many thanks.

I agree. You are welcome sir John
I agree with the other reviewer that it is an axiom but no less a poem for that. It is written using a traditional form, the haiku, which in itself gives it a somewhat surprising edge - the last line lands with more force than it otherwise would. Enjambment also adds to the overall effect on the reader. It's a thought perfectly expressed, or how could it be put any more eloquently?

I wrote it as a senryū but I see your point. Many thanks John
Well..it's out there now so go with it..lol. Sometimes you just write what you can while you can and it leads you down a path that you don't quite understand till later. But this one is at least honest and that is a high measure of any poem. Enjoyed it, although it sorta felt more like an Axiom than a poem but it was still honest so thumbs up. Thanks~

I wonder in the early days of ancient civilizations, deception was as approved as it is today??

It's true, I don't think anyone is born deceitful, it's definitely an art that is honed over a long time. Love your word choice, and the compact haiku gives more to the idea of something being honed into an art... self reflective by construction.

Many thanks. I guess magicians have to use the 'art' of deceit if they are to enjoy any success.
So true, nothing pains more than someone that is dull at deceit. Clever and well written.

So true that is why I am not a good magician
and I hope those who practice it long enough feel it is worth it for what is left
on their conscience.

Well, have a long and complicated story and started it as an autobiography on Bebo but got writer's block/memory fogging. People liked it though and kept asking for the next chapter! fools.. more..
