Trust Me

Trust Me

A Poem by PassionED

One true friend, but that's really all,

One person to talk to when I slip and fall,

There's nobody else, don't you see,

For everyone else has just betrayed me.

All I was looking for was warmth in a hug,

But all I found was that self-hatred is my drug.

You've always listened to my solemn and sappy tales,

As I dig scars into my skin with my nails.

It seems my way of thinking has been mutilated,

My life, my passion that once illuminated,

That shone so bright, is now dull,

The life that once was filled is no longer full.

The score has been set back to zero,

You're the one who has been a hero.

Since with you lays my trust,

I'll tell you that when I look in the mirror, all I feel is disgust.

I trust too easily and leave too many clues,

It shows on my heart, for now there's a black bruise.

I love too many and say too much,

My heart is too open, too easy to touch.

I feel beaten, broken, and abused,

Helpless, lost, and so confused,

I've buried myself and am now choking,

On the self-hatred I am forever provoking.

Thank you for being by my side,

In you I can always confide.

If again you want to hear from me,

Look to heaven, that's where I want to be.
