 My Dear Madame

           It is with happy heart that I, Sieur Alexandre di Castlemaine inform you that, although it has taken longer than expected your son Raphael is free and will be escorted by three men-at-arms to Lecco, from there he may do as he wishes, although until he is delivered safely to the Marchesa's manor he is honor bound to avoid all contact with the Count of Toulouse or the count's minions. Any deviation from that condition will result in immediate revocation of his parol, loss of the ransome and he shall return to my custody.

  En* Raphael has given his word  that he will abide by these conditions. He shall leave Castiglione on or about the 1st of aout** and should arrive in Lecco within a fortnight.
