A Declaration of Love for My Lady

A Declaration of Love for My Lady

A Poem by Patches I'm not so new anymore.
"

A poem written in the troubadour mode

"

Today I sing better than any other troubadour

Today mine heart draws me to a finer, purer love

I am made more worthy of her love by her love.

I have set as mine goal to be deserving of her for

I am drawn to her as is the sea to the moon

as the flower to the sunlight.

A person is dead when feeling no love

when the heart preceives no need to taste

love's sweet nectar or does not long for it

like one dying of thirst longs for sweet water in abundance.

What is life worth without love? Nothing! There, I have

answered mine own question. May I not a suffer a day

when I do not feel in mine heart love for mine lady, or that

in bowing to despair I no longer feel the need to love and

 be loved in return.

I love ma donna* for she is most worthy of love, she is the fount

from which I sip love's sweet nectar and am fulfilled, She is the best

and most beautiful in mine eyes for she maketh mine heart to sigh and mine ears to hear the music of the spheres. Mine eyes are are full, dazzled by her loveliness.

Love hast captured me and hast taken hold of me. Mine life without her would be but an empty shell. I would wander the world without purpose.

Mine songs wouldst be worthless, mine music filled with discordant sounds.

Without ma donna I wouldst die a thousand deaths only to be resurrected

to die them again to next day. AAHHH Bon Dieu if Thou wouldst allow me to be with her both day and night for the rest of mine daysI wouldst give all the gold all the silver I posses to the church so that she may know that I value her above all else in this world

and that to die in her arms, with a last sweet kiss from her lips wouldst indeed be a fitting entrance into paradise.

When I speak with thee ma donna I tremble, mine voice wavers, mine breathing becomes rapid, mine heart pounds as though it wouldst fain break through mine ribs, exit mine body and beat solely in rhythm with thy voice. I am smitten by Cupid that love child of Eros and Aphrodite**, I am ruled by love, driven by desire. The desire to be all that I can be to thee. To love thee, to honor thee to hold thee close and forever in mine heart

To live for thee and if necessary to die so that thou might live.

*ma donna= my lady

** In some stories Cupid and Eros are one and the same

In others Eros is a companion to Aphrodite.

I have usesd poetic licence and made Eros Aphrodite's lover and Cupid their love child.
