silence is copper after all

silence is copper after all

A Poem by Patrick Schultz
"

Silence isn't really golden if there isn't value put to it.

"

Silence was a currency I knew of well

For with it I bought many things

Secrets

Trust

More Secrets

Until she came along

Entrusting me with all her misdemeanors

I tucked them into the folds of my memory

Bonding them to my own mind so they appreciated

With time

But silence is a currency that never stays in the consumers hands for long

And after a heated exchange about a drunken tryst with a comrade

A man whose arms she fell into while I sought to catch what was left

Of the kite we built out of bones and love stretched along the frame

I too became inebriated by rage's ferment

Spilling all her secrets onto the table of another
