Ten Years

Ten Years

A Poem by Chloe..Across the Universe
"

"From an image born"

"
The waves lap against the pier
wind blows cold from the north
the white caps seem to spell out my name
wind screaming it like a Banshee

Every day for ten years I have come here
on this very day, the day you died leaving me alone
to survive in a world as cold and vast as  this
ocean

I stand at the end of the pier staring into the
oceans depth looking for a sign
wondering if this will be the year I join you

The sun is yawning rubbing sleep from his eyes
the cold overcast sky begins to thaw
the sun opens his sleepy eyes

Seabirds circle round me as the ocean calms
I know in my heart you don't want this
you want me to stay here without you
I want to dive into the ocean and let her
hold me like a mother holds a broken child

Child, ours as lost without you as I am
my grief overwhelming consuming me
my child living a nightmare of his own
no help from me

Selfish I have been thinking only of me

The sun winks at me
as the sea birds sing-song
a mournful melody
you within the wind
caress me as I hear your voice

I say as I walk back down the pier

I know,
not today
not today

I always enjoyed the exercises is school, when we were to write a story or a poem about a single picture. Each story was unique, but the general emotions seemed to remain pretty uniform. This poem was finely presented, very sad, and written by a wonderfully emotional poet. If you look hard enough, you can find a story in a single blade of grass, like Robert Frost's "Tuft of Flowers" (my favorite of his poems.

[ the white caps seem to spell out my name ] nice?... and hey, not today. Not ever!
Your world in the living, is a testimony to his memory. To see the sun, feel it's warmth and know that he is in spirit there with you always. That kind of love spoken of is a twin Flame and never goes out. Waiting patiently waiting... know that all this he sees through your eyes and that the spirit contains the imprint of the both of your lives in it. Shame, to rub that out. Love is, and never dies.

Unless we are overwhelmed and allow the as you have so clearly put and I know you understand [ Selfish I have been thinking only of me ] contained it is a wonderful and cherished secret we all know, and share. Keep this as hope... let that sun wink on you its splendor every day... until. The Creator, calls you home!

There are the many moments that wait your calling with a breath of words to freshen the reader to your view and we love your words. Your a gift...

I like the way the nature speaks to you in this poem.
"wind blows cold from the north
the white caps seem to spell out my name"
and
"the sun winks at me".

I can feel your sadness and longing, and I feel the wind, the sun and the birds calling to you, caring for you, while you mourn.

Haunting piece, those last lines, resigned to grief, sigh. Nice work.

I felt the chill of the breeze, the warmth as the sun rose.
I heard the birds as they sang their song of sorrow.
I felt drops of water as the ocean splashed upon the shore.
I felt like I was there.

This was beautiful, beyond words.

Wow, you can hear the water splashing and the birds singing. This reminded me of the day a few years ago when I found a black cross that someone had placed in a crack in the fence looking out at the water in the park near my home. I pushed it in deeper so it is very hard to see and it is still there 4 years later.

What great imagery - it accentuates the emotions that lay beneath the frost that has engulfed the scenery. Awesome work, my friend. It touched me.
