The Blue Light
One morning during the Summer of 1999 I was in Northern Denmark with a group of friends, most of them Danish. I was sitting on a picnic bench with a man whose self-chosen name was Lys. We were talking about something; probably philosophizing about how we experience life. All of a sudden I saw a large ball of silver-blue light appear between us. It’s appearance lasted for more than a second. Back then it was very common for me to see tiny silver-blue flashes of light, which lasted only for an instant. When I was relaxed and my eyes were unfocused I would often see them suddenly appear. But at this particular occurance, above the picnic bench, it wasn’t just a point. It was huge; the biggest I’ve ever seen. The size of a tennis ball, it shone with an unearthly silveriness, as if it was a star that had come to visit. I tried to tell Lys about what I’d just seen. But he himself hadn’t seen it. I wished he had, because I really wanted to share my experience. Instead, I was left with elation and questions:
What was the nature of this light?
What was I actually seeing?
