Memory

Memory

A Poem by Adam Light

I used to remember everything,

but I threw most of it away.

People’s names and random facts;

all useless for today.

Notebooks filled with art and prose,

from many years ago,

Discarded and forgotten,

for I have come to know,

that everything that mattered

is in my heart for good,

and everything worth knowing,

without words is understood.

I welcome each new paradigm,

leaving the last behind,

for anything that’s covered in dust,

I do not want to find.
