Take the First Step

Take the First Step

A Poem by Adam Light

Take the first step,

and the first stumble.

Let your feet slip,

and feel your heart rumble.

Slide back, if you must,

and fall, if you will,

but know in your heart,

that you’re better off still.

Now you can see things

that you couldn’t before.

You may have lost ground,

but gained so much more.

Now you’re excited;

your options all glow.

To press on is to live,

and to live is to grow.
