Angels Among Us

Angels Among Us

A Story by Pennie

In a heartbeat the woman was brought off her feet and into the arms of the man in the black suit. She had seen him before, once at a dinner party given by a friend. She remembered his name was Jack, she now had him to thank for pulling her out of the street just as the car had come spinning around the corner. She cursed herself for not paying more attention to the activities around her. Her mind was on the patient she had in the hospital today those eyes she had seen those eyes before. She looked up at the man she only knew as Jack and thanked him for his quick actions.

He smiled at her and asked if she was okay. Yes she had replied other than the scratch on her arm she seemed in tact. He had then helped her up and dusted the dirt off his pants and retrieved her name badge. I'm glad I could be of assistance to you Anne he said as he read the name off her tag. She smiled at him, noticing the eyes, the same as the patient she had left today in the hospital, so blue they were almost white. Kind of a haunting look in them, she didn't understand how they both had the same eyes. She knew she would have remembered those eyes if she had seen them before, but she knew this man was the same one she had seen at the dinner party a few months past. but this man didn't have the eyes that he has now when she had seen him before. She thanked him once again for his kindness and went in the direction of her home.

The next day she woke up in a sweat , she had a dream that she couldn't make out other than seeing those eyes. She put on the coffee and went in to get dressed she had to get to the hospital she had to see the patients, especially the one with the eyes, there was just something about those eyes she could not shake. She dressed quickly and headed to the hospital.

When she reached the hospital she had a hard time making her rounds at this time she really had no concern for these other patients only the man with the eyes, she could not shake the image of him and what about Jack whose eyes had matched she didn't know what to think , finally she was at the door of the man. She took a deep breathe and opened the door. She looked around m the bed was empty the room cleaned up, She checked the name on the door, nothing. She went to the nurses station where is the man in 14 b she asked, the nurses looked at her in a quizzical manner, Anne there has been not patient in 14 b, not in at least a week. No Anne said he was there yesterday checked him in myself, for tests to be run today, the nurses looked at her and continued to say there had been no patient in that room.

Anne turned on her heels and left the station she had to find out what was going on, she knew she was not losing her mind there was a man in that room. She left the hospital She didn't know how long she had been walking she really didn't care she wanted she needed to find out what was going on, why had the patient disappeared, who was this mysterious Jack. She walked along the street until she saw a café on the corner ,she thought coffee would be good she stepped in the café, at first she didn't notice anything in particular but soon she realized that there was something strange something unusual about this place, everyone was quiet, no one talking. She looked around trying to see if she could get anyones attention, she glanced to the bar and her mouth opened in astonishment, there was her patient sitting with Jack, she could not believe her eyes. She made her way over to the bar where the two of them sat, they seemed not to see her. She moved closer to them, Jack looked up at her and smiled. Hi he said to her as if nothing was strange about this encounter, what are you doing her she said, and what are you doing here she asked the patient. He looked at Jack as to find out if he should answer the question, Jack said to Anne, do you not see it Anne, you are an angel as we all are. Anne looked at him quizzically an angel she said bewildered. Yes he answered her Drew he said pointing to the patient was sent to get you ready, I was your guardian appointed to watch over you until your time. The other day when you thought I saved you I didn't I was a second off. Look at your eyes they are the same as ours. Anne looked in the mirror her eyes were the same as the patients and Jacks the haunting in them she realized now was the fact that they would not ever again feel the wind blow, or the heat of sun. She also realized for the first time she was completely at peace, and there was nothing ever again that could hurt her. She had Jack to thank for that

Although I like the idea of this story, there are many punctuation errors. There should be many commas in a lot of your sentences, and without them you've created run on sentences. Also, when they're speaking, you should put quotation marks around their words in order to make it flow better, so as not to confuse the reader. Otherwise, I applaud you! Good job!
