Battle Scars

Battle Scars

A Poem by ღCloveღ

Please don't ask me my story
For I have none to tell.
I'll tell you instead
Tales of battles
Tales of war.

The wars I speak of are not fought by warriors.
No, we are no heroes.
But these battles leave scars.
Written in our flesh
Like an untold story.

We do not fight monsters or armies or dragons.
We fight against ourselves.
Our own demons are our foe.
We win sometimes
And we lose sometimes.

A razor digs into my flesh.
Blood seeps out in red beads.
I know that this isn't bravery.
I know that I'm ungrateful.
But I deserve it.

Every day is a new fight.
Insecurities. Rejection. Bullying. Hostility.
I'm constantly in a battle.
Sometimes I win.
Sometimes I don't
