Dear God...

Dear God...

A Poem by Merry
"

...please forgive my white forefathers...and those who are to come....

"

Dear God,

Do not let their Catholic churches crumble,

Or our Jewish brothers weep,

Help our Muslim mothers mumble of harmony and peace in their sleep,

Do not let the hooded men carry torches to our negro family members' wake,

Help us count the dropped corn dolls on their trail that tired children could not hold,

Set our Southern cousins free,

Let them pray before the Mother and sing before the Lord,

Let them be a proud people once more,

And tell the white men that they can rise from Hell when the time is right for them " once again

Amen.
