See Me Here

See Me Here

A Poem by Aileen

See me here
You sitting next me
Your arm draped
around my shoulder
Telling me that’s
its all going to be ok

I can’t believe
what has just parade
I can’t believe
the pain in my arm,
the blood everywhere
My friend bleeding
Near death
As you comfrent me,
You hold me
So lightly
So soft
So gentle

The gun feet away
Can’t keep my eyes off it
It had to be done
I had to
Or more would die

As you hold my hand
I forget the pain
And melt right into you
I forget what’s all around us
And for now
I just won’t to be with you

I hear the cops saying
“That girls got balls,
she took down to armed men”
That made me shake
And you creedal my head
And whisper in my ear
And for now I know I’m safe.
