Mendacious Pantomime

Mendacious Pantomime

No good news today .....

Mendacious Pantomime

As the innocent die of their starvation

Within the walls of bomb cratered streets

Swirling toxic gases melt young lungs

A terror weapon to demoralise the meek

The atrociousness of media imagery

Highlight persecutions beyond belief

And every day they keep on coming

No immediate sign of rescue or relief

Too long the postured political rhetoric

Has overshadowed constructive actions

As the many false prophet players

Act out the pantomime of their factions

Down the slippery slope we go again

If we all stand by and fecklessly log

Meaningless 'tweeters' of protestations

Of expostulation through social network blogs

Prioritising the rights and dealing with wrongs

Must be the courageous just order of business

Holding to account world leaders' responsibilities

Through the joining of individual charitableness

Reminding all involved who persistently oppress

They will be punished for their tyrant insanity

For soon comes a day of final judgement

When befitting payment settles their inhumanity

This is a beautiful poem that works well to bring awareness and address the issues in the world today. You do well in that you start out laying out the atrocities and then move on in the end to explain to the reader steps that can be taken to solve them. This is an excellent read, well done.

'Down the slippery slope we go again ~ If we all stand by and fecklessly log ~ meaningless
'tweeters' of protestations ~ Of expostulation through social network blogs... '

What powerful words, what angry, frustrated words.

The media in every conceivable form takes revenge on its usership. Persuading folk to live and die by the headlines or - share varying forms of barely recognised facts via chitter chatter twittering. When will true empathy and ethics return? Many people do what they can, others do not.. and that's the truth... pictures and sounds are like movies, death is in all virtually ever best movie of the week. Perhaps civilisation has become life dead.

Oops. Your grand writing reached into me, forgive my reaction, please.

Through the joining of individual charitableness...

Oh yes...that those who persistently oppress would come to find their judgement just per the crimes they so daftly and easily commit.

Perfect!

I can't believe in this day and age that atrocities like what's happening in Syria are going on whilst the world stand idly by - what a disgrace! Ah well it'll all soon be over with the threat of nuclear wars going on between half crazed leaders.....pray for peace :)

It is unfortunate that we humans are capable of destroying the lives of others. I hate what happened in Syria, the videos were awful. It's just tragic that we live in a world like this, that we are so incapable of loving one another. This was nicely written. Thank you for sharing.

I think we live in a world of words and no real action. It's like we can see and express but when it comes to really doing something, we're helpless or rather we make ourselves so...
Your last lines sum up well what is to come..
Well penned
