Hatchet Pond

Hatchet Pond

A Poem by Phill Oz O'fee
"

Hatchet Pond is the largest body of water within the Crown Lands of the New Forest, managed by the Forestry Commission.

"

Hatchet Pond

Temperate morning mist meanders

In translucent billows across the pond

Illuminated in soft subdued cerise haze

In sunrise’s subtle twisted light rays

Dancing around the water’s boundary

A myriad of airborne vibrant beasties

Dart transversely between the reeds

Predators’ flying breakfast early feast

Daybreak yawn’s soft summer zephyr

Of sighing countenance into my soul

Pleasantly presented by Mother Nature

An ambiance of magnificent splendour

They say the simplest things in our lives

Can freely be discovered all around us

We need only open are blinkered eyes

And escape to more tranquil surroundings

Strong message contained in your lines Phill. Sadly not many people see the treasures that nature brings. They are too busy with stuff that will stress them out. Your posted image is stunning. Have been to the New Forest many times, but not there. I enjoyed the alliteration and internal rhyme in your lines, and your word choice is always of top quality. A great read and a fabulous picture.

Take me to that place again. I want to see it with my own two eyes. The more I stare, the more I see the things I can fall in love with.

I really dig this piece. Each line has something going for it, especially when you combine it together.

Nice, but very difficult for me to read. Had to like read it three times, but it had a good flow. You can imagine the scene.

Aloha Phill, gorgeous read, very smooth. The image is magnificent, & your words are a wonderful homage to the majesty that is all around us. Generous with imagery and sealed with a gentle truth. Lovely read, and a great message. Mahalo, Izzy.

Your words paint a magnificent picture of nature's pure beauty. It makes you realize that there is much more in the world than a computer screen (Ironic, it seems at the moment). Fascination envelops your poem and I truly am grateful for this piece.
