![]() Social IsolationA Poem by Phill Oz O'feeSocial Isolation How poignantly wasteful it took so long For hardened scales to fall from these eyes And to realise the truth had been hidden By believing the prolific persuasive
misrepresentation Promoting and encouraging an individualistic humanity Abruptly the awareness that life’s
interactions Were only consensual
hallucination experiences Commonly known as networking on the internet Extinguishing and replacing the practice of
socialising On an intimate and face to face foundation How stark the prospects of this lonely
culture The avoidance of communal
contact at all cost A pervasive withdrawal into
a commercially controlled world Bedtime e-books
replacing our children’s reading format No need for mummy and
daddy to tuck them in We can ring, ping,
email, fax, text or post Comment, tweet, MySpace,
Facebook or Skype Yet despite our ability
for constant contact, isolation persists Now is the time for a
reflective overview And an intermingling in
real time, before we lose each other © 2013 Phill Oz O'feeFeatured Review
