We Live on Without Us

We Live on Without Us

A Poem by Pi Cee

You thank me, for the time we spent above the earth,
in our little bubble of voices and words.
You stop and you shout at how the bubble broke,
how it turned to glass and shattered us both.
You leave me with nothing other than hurt,
and a bittersweet memory of a young boy's new becoming birth.

What's in your eyes, that turns you so sharply
What's in your heart that keeps bound no mercy
What is it that cuts down so deep into bone,
that pours from you rage and a decades old song

Where in your eyes that was seen by me smile
Where in your heart was that reckless guile
Where were you found,
this man you are now

You thank me for all the time, I helped you on with your way
You stop and still at the stars do you gaze
You leave with the heartache that once knew no other May,
into the trashes of the world's breathtaking decay
