Less Is More

Less Is More

A Poem by Pia

One armed man
Who ties your shoes?

One armed man
Do you remember your dreams?

Are they in color? Does she smile?
Do lips touch lips, hands remember hands?

Two hearted boy
Do the doctors keep you close?

Two hearted boy
Do you bruise when they touch?

Does falling burn you twice?
Do wounds bleed too fast?

One armed man
You still make her laugh?
One armed man
With one hand still there to clasp

Two hearted boy
With your twice weeping chest
Two hearted boy
More complete that the rest?

Born  with too little--he'll still stand and hold one of her hands

Born with too much--he'll try to cut out the precious, unbearable beat
