Inert

Inert

A Poem by piccolabeth

We didn't dance together
But when we did it was clumsy.
Our feet knocked together,
Out of rhythm and awkward.
We'd lose grip of each other
And get lost in the crowds.
Plus... I was too little
To look you in the eye
Without over-balancing
And falling sideways on my stilettos.
The music was never right anyway.
The D.J. didn't like our taste.
So, we didn't dance together,
We just stood, inert,
Waiting for the bass to kick in.
