"Why do you fester like a gash to me...?"

"Why do you fester like a gash to me...?"

A Poem by Ngoc M. Nguyen
"

Betrayal and deception force a lover to reject his significant other.

"

Why do you fester like a gash to me,
Belovéd? Though you are the weaker sex
your callous, spiteful, faithless, mad vortex
of a cold heart is wild and deadly;
your treachery betrays the worst in thee:
"you and me, forever," you said to vex
me with feral, lying lips like reflex,
not once feeling guilt or shame or sorry
for me;--so comprehending you is lost
on me, as your most basic self lacks sense
and reason! Belovéd, at what great cost
have I loved you so beyond my defense?
       Disappointed and hurt, I spurn your love;--
       to ne'ermore think you as from up above!
