The Treasure

The Treasure

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

In a barren cave.

The treasure lay

Its own value unknown,

Its gems not shown.

No light shining,

Only darkness residing.

No sense of hope

In a hidden cove.

Dormant it lay still,

Unsure of its will.

Not seeing purpose

In what it was.

…Until the treasure was unlocked

And by the Light, the darkness was blocked.

Its gems now glistened

As to its heart it listened.

Where the love of Christ abounds,

The greatest joy is found.

The heart overflows beyond measure

At the truest treasure.
