Your Friend

Your Friend

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Hands to hold,

Shoulders to cry on.

Hearts to understand

Ears to hear when whispers land.

Life can be challenging

And downright damaging.

Yet, through the pain

There is something to be gained.

A friend lifts your spirits

And even through sadness you can hear it.

Hear the love of God calling
Even when you feel you’re falling.

For He knows your every need

Which He sufficiently meets.

Just close your eyes

And His peace you will find.

A friend reminds you who you are,

In the midst of grey skies you are the brightest star.

The Lord has a plan indeed,

And I’m glad He gave me to you and you to me.

So, as you rest in His love and grace,

I’ll be there through whatever you face.

I’m that heart to listen,

I’m your friend.
