The Alter

The Alter

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Giving You my all,

I humble my heart

To hear Your call,

Until this life I part.

I come to Your grace in tears,

Bowing my life to Your authority.

My sorrows, my fears,

I bring to the alter of mercy.

Far from perfect am I,

And I make mistakes.

Yet, You are by my side,

Every move I make.

My dreams up in the air,

My faith guarantees.

So, hope I dare

To take these dreams to the alter of belief.

There You are,
In all Your glory.

The shiner of the stars

Through all of history.

Grateful am I

To be inside Your grace.

For I know You are ever on my side,

As everything to the alter I take.
