Pregnant With the Word

Pregnant With the Word

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Chosen for such a gift,

Her heart must have overflowed.

Her faith had its lift

To know and to bestow.

Holding within her the Child

Which was her very Lord,

Mary must have felt such grace all the while

Pregnant with the Word.

Did she dream of her son?

Of His life… of His death?

Did she see the pain He would endure as the One?

Did she dream of His first and last breath?

All the while, she nurtured and cared

For the One many would someday adore.

Soon, the Savior would breathe the same air,

As she was pregnant with the Word.

How blessed was she---
Who had the Christ living inside.

Feeling Him move, she believed

In God’s power and might.

How blessed are we,

Who have the same Lord

Living on the inside, ever to be

Pregnant with the Word.
