![]() The Mountain of GodA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Mountain of God
The void filled the darkness As I struggle to climb. Latching on, rock by rock, in distress, Hoping the top I’d soon find.
Time and time again, My feet slip from tiny stones And my fingers bleed thin From holding on.
Every muscle engaged, Little by little, I pull myself up. Relying on faith To navigate my way without seeing the filled cup.
Rocks fall under the pressure of weight, Looking up at its vastness And still I feel so far away, Feeling each stress.
“Lord, how much longer do I have to climb To reach my destiny? Why do You seem to hide Your plans from me?”
Even so, the further I go, There are more stones to grasp, And the tiniest are found by my toes Where I thought there’d be lack.
Feeling a presence at my back, My heart gives a nod. For I know that the rope of Jesus has no slack On the mountain of God. © 2017 Melinda McQueenReviews
