Make a Sunflower of Me

Make a Sunflower of Me

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

Make a Sunflower of Me

Folded into itself

In the dark of the night,

It waits and believes

In the morning light.

Knowing that the time will come

When the sun will call it forth.

Following its light,

The Sunflower will again know its worth.

For it knows that though there are times dark,

It waits patiently for the light to come…

Opening to the shining light,

Spreading its members as its always done.

Lord, help me remember…

To come out of my hiding place,

And when times are dark,

Let me call out for Your grace.

A follower of You,

So in tuned I want to be…

That Your will

Is all I seek.

Following You with my whole heart,

May I reach for You, as You’re my every need.

Unfold me each morning;

Lord, make a Sunflower of me.

I see a divine context in your words
a prayer of something holding beauty within
refusing to die out in the dark
I love your use of nature and belief together
Its quite unique!!
