The Cross for the Lost

The Cross for the Lost

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

The Cross for the Lost

After being whipped and mocked,

Jesus bore the weight

Of the cross upon His back,

And He made haste.

He knew it was to be;

God’s plan at a cost.

Dedicated to the Father’s will--

The cross for the lost.

He’d waited His whole existence

For that moment in time.

To accomplish what He was sent to do--

To become the bridge to the Divine.

The heavens opened

of all its starry hosts.

The path was made when Jesus used

The cross for the lost.

Scattered, headed for destruction,

God handed the world the Light of His own--

The Light that would lead

To an eternal home.

His last labored breath declared,

“It is finished!” then He gave up the ghost.

The Savior gave all He had, on

The cross for the lost.
