The Awaited Day

The Awaited Day

 

The light beamed through the window,

creating a soft glow.

Upon opening her eyes,

she threw out a splendid sigh.

For this was the day she’d waited her whole life,

now it was here in its time.

Soon, she was participating in things

she thought life would never bring.

But here she was, being adorned

for what she almost dared not to hope for.

While dressing, she was well aware

that he awaited her out there.

Now in her dress of white,

all her world was becoming right.

Though her heart was happy and light,

her stomach filled with dancing butterflies.

Then, finally, it was time

to be escorted down the aisle, her daddy by her side.

Looking around at the gathered crowd,

her family and friends were found.

Fixating her eyes on the man waiting for her;

the one her heart adored.

In saying “I do.”,

she knew love was true.

She felt complete.

I know this because she was me!

A day to remember. What a beautiful memory, to be escorted down the aisle by a proud and loving Dad to meet your forever man. All in the company of happy friends and relatives.
