The ListenerA Poem by Melinda McQueenThe Listener
He is there waiting, His ears ever training To the sound of her cries. Longing to wipe her eyes. Intending to help, He longs to dwell. To be known, to be felt, to make hearts melt. He sees all the destruction, the hurt, and knows He’s sent the help of the Word. The Listener hears, and so does He see her ev’ry need. Thinking He’s far away and hears not the words she prays. Blessings upon blessings are sent, and for a while she is content. But then, the thief comes in and her happiness ends. Crying out more, her soul implores. Again, the Listener on high hears and longs to be near. When finally, she searches her heart, she wants a new start. Now, when she prays, she knows He hears her… The Listener.
