Reaching Forever

Reaching Forever

A Poem by Melinda McQueen

 Reaching Forever

Dancing to their own tune,

he spins her around the ballroom.

Eyes beholding each other’s gaze,

as the two danced the night away.

Their years together loomed.

Life strutted on,

and they danced to their song.

Trips they made

and things done in haste…

the choices made, right and wrong.

The fight to stick it out

when there was doubt.

Using their love

as the force to keep looking up,

much did they abound.

They’ve had a good life,

loved through the good times,

and stayed through the bad.

Their love never lacked,

their love survived.

Dancing to their own tune,

he holds her close, in their living-room.

Eyes dimmed with age,

reaching forever, love was their stay.

Their years together, ever true.
