Forever Jake & KateA Poem by Melinda McQueenForever Jake & Kate
Walking along the beach, the salty air she breathed. Her heart heavy in her chest as memories inside refused to rest. She could hardly believe the chance she’d been given; it was no wonder it had been God-driven. The water washed onto her feet just as his memory washed over her heart. It had been a while since they were forced to part. Her heart missed him like the waves longed for the shore, each passing day only made her miss him more. She lost her best friend. Their love had to end. Their love was true, and was always anew. Though she mourned that it had to end, she refused to be sad, for all the joy it lent. For the memories were hers to hold-- treasures from her heart to bestow. With a whole life before her, she chose to trust God had more for her. Along
her walk, she came to their favorite place She sat on the log they had adopted as theirs, and smiled upon seeing his care. Her heart felt lighter, as her outlook suddenly became bright. Reminded that their love would never end, and she would surely see him again. For there in the wooden log was engraved, Forever Jake & Kate.
